Mike’s Funeral
June 24th, 2016
Mike was a sentimental guy. Sometimes we would go to funerals and there would be a beautiful eulogy offered about a person’s life. We would both tear up and I recall Mike saying “wow I would hope someone would have something half as great to say about me when I die.”
I don’t have the time nor talent to write the tribute here that Mike deserves. But I know Mike is looking down on us from Heaven, and I hope he can see all the people here who have gathered to pay tribute to his life. I hope he is listening in on all the beautiful stories that are being told about him now, as people remember all the wonderful things he has done. I hope he can feel the immense impact he had on all the lives of all the people who knew him.
I think Mike will be best remembered for his service to others. For his incredible talent, work ethic and his discipline to self-improvement. For his selflessness. For his genuine goodness. For his keen sense of humor. For his beautiful smile. He was the kindest person I knew, and the best friend anyone could ask for.
I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that Mike is gone from us. Everywhere I look I see reminders of him. The void that he leaves behind is daunting.
I hope he finally knows what an incredible impact he had on this world, and the people’s lives he leaves behind. I cherish the beautiful memories we made with Mike over the time we got to share with him on this earth, and I will remain grateful. I can feel that same beautiful smile shining down on us from heaven.
